Calligraphy Classes

Interested in learning calligraphy? In addition to my usual private & group lessons, I will be teaching a course through South Seattle Community College (Continuing Education) in May. Here's a link to the class information.

Here's a brief description of the class from course catalog:

Come learn the art of hand calligraphy in a fun, casual environment! You will learn a unique lettering style that will spruce up any envelope or invitation. No experience necessary. Students will receive calligraphy pens, alphabet exemplars, practice paper, and weekly projects to encourage creativity.

Classes will be on on three consecutive Thursdays in May (5/8, 5/15 & 5/22) from 6pm-8pm. I look forward to seeing you there.

Sweetheart Affair

On February 9, 12, 13 & 14, I will be appearing at the Food Emporium in Lynnwood from 12pm-3pm for their Sweetheart Affair Valentine's Event.  I will be on hand to address Valentine's cards & envelopes free of charge, courtesy of the Food Emporium.  The cards must be an in-store purchase.

The event is free to the public and will be featuring live music by Nicholas Baker, cooking demonstrations & food sampling, a kids zone, a floral section with bouquets for purchase, and much more.

The event begins on Saturday, February 9th and continues on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.   Doors open each day at noon and will end at 7pm.  It should be a lot of fun.  Come by and say hello if you stop by.

First Wedding Order of the Year

I completed this order a couple weeks ago. It was a rush order of about 200 outer & inner envelopes. The script is magnolia in a classic black ink. The client also had me stuff & stamp the invitations. It was a lot to squeeze into 4 working days but I enjoyed it.

Two New Framed Pieces

I finished these up last week.  The first is a white frame with three 5x7 openings.  I wrapped the matting with a textured brown paper and used leaves from the maple tree in my backyard that I dried last month.   The text in the middle is a version of the primrose lettering style.

The second piece is a portion of Zechariah's Benedictus that is a particular favorite of mine.  The lettering was done in the Nightshade style and the matting and text portion have rub-on decals that I've been fooling around with of late.

Framed Christmas Order

I just completed a framed order for a local client.   It was done in the primrose lettering style with  some accent art underneath to add texture.

New Website!

Finally launched the new website.  Thanks to rusted code for getting it up and running for me.   Take a look around and let me know what you think.

Sherbourne Order

I've been working on a new design for my website so I haven't posted on here in a while but I'm still working away. I completed this envelope order last week. They were for a client's Save the Date cards. Her wedding is later next year.

Save the Dates - Sherbourne Order

The holidays are fast upon us.  November and December tend to be very busy months so be sure to contact me well ahead of time if you'd like a spot on my calendar before Christmas.

Another Seattle Wedding Order

I completed a rush wedding order a few weeks back. I addressed about 55 inner & outer envelopes and then stuffed & stamped them as well. The script used was Chancery Cursive calligraphy. Click on the thumbnails to see the larger image.

Destination Wedding

A few weeks back I completed 70 menus (along with place cards and table labels) for an 07/07/07 destination wedding in Pebble Beach, CA. Both the wedding and reception took place at The Inn at Spanish Bay. Below are a few shots of the menus.
